Winning Post-1800m: Some minor traffic marks in lanes 1 and 2 but can't see if having any bearing on the races. Coverage is strong and it walked a '4'.
1800m-1200m: Great coverage in this section. It's largely spotless until they exit the straight where there's some light wear close to the fence. Should race well in this section, walks a '4' also.
1200m-800m: I thought hard up on the fence had more wear than the wider lanes. I couldn't find any difference in the going between lanes 2 through 7, but would confidently say hard up on the fence will be slower ground and a disadvantage.
800m-400m: Very similar to the previous section. Hard up on the fence has more wear than the other lanes and at this point I think you'll see the jockeys working off the fence. Lane 2 and beyond is cleaner and should race well.
400m-Winning Post: Thought the wear here extended across the inside three lanes. Wouldn't surprise me to see winners coming off the fence and towards the crown of the track. Grass growth is still strong, it walked a '4' also.
Verdict: I thought the track raced very well last week with the rail in the 6m position everywhere. We see it move out two metres to the 8m position from the 1200m mark to the post and I'm expecting it to race fairly again. I thought hard up on the fence from the 1200m was inferior ground and I think you'll see jockeys trying to get off the fence as they approach the 600m mark. I think you'll see plenty of winners cross the line in the middle lanes. The coverage is still strong and there was enough cushion in the ground to think it will start a Good 4 and stay there for the duration of the card.
