Eyre Peninsula Racing Legends Series

The Eyre Peninsula Racing Association (EPRA), which provides a sounding board for all the thoroughbred racing clubs in the region, recently announced at their Annual General Meeting a change of name for their highly successful racing series. After many years of being known as the “Bill Holland Series” in honour of the legendary trainer and mentor within the region, EPRA announced that in future it will be known as the “Eyre Peninsula Racing Legends Series”.

The name change would enable each club, on an annual rotational basis, to acknowledge a local legend within their community who has provided valuable service to their respective racing club. The name, and promotional information, will be provided by the specific club across various local and statewide media outlets, in addition to the venue where a heat of the series is conducted.

The Lock Racing Club was announced as the successful club for the 2025/26 Eyre Peninsula Racing Legend Series and Jeff Tansell, Chairman of Country Racing SA, said he looked forward to each club having an opportunity to promote a community legend within their area.

The Eyre Peninsula Legend Racing Series kicks off with the Thevenard Cup (Sat, Nov 29) and includes the Ceduna Cup (Sat, Jan 31), Lock Cup (Sun, Feb 15), Port Lincoln Cup (Fri, Feb 27) Penong Cup (Sun, March 8), Kimba Cup (Sun, March 15) and concludes with the Streaky Bay Cup (Sat, March 21).
