2023 Hawker Cup Preview

Enjoy a late autumn break and head north to the heart of the Flinders Ranges for the first of the Flinders Ranges & the Outback region cups, with the 2023 Northpoint Toyota Hawker Cup.

Situated in the heart of the Flinders Ranges, Hawker is a small town 365 kilometres north of Adelaide, approximately a four and a half hour drive. Why not hit the road and check out an iconic outback race day with the dramatic backdrop of the Flinders Ranges!

See the red dirt fly as the horses battle it out around the track. The day is set to be a filled with fun and excitement, with something for everyone. There will be plenty of racing action to enjoy, on-course bookmakers, family fun and entertainment throughout the day. An exciting five-race card is set for Cup Day, with the Hawker Cup itself being fought over 1750 meters – a true test.

Post-race day head to the Hawker Hotel on the edge of the town for some food and drinks. There are a number of places to stay in Hawker including the Hawker Hotel, Hawker Caravan Park, and Flinders Ranges Breakfast, plus other accommodation in the surrounding Flinders Ranges.

After the excitement of the Hawker Cup on Saturday, check out the stunning and dramatic Flinders Ranges. The incredible Wilpena Pound is just a forty five minute drive out of Hawker and offers incredible views. On the other side of the Flinders Ranges is the iconic and delicious Prairie Hotel. Offering a unique range of ingredients including kangaroo, emu, and camel. The Prairie Hotel also runs one of South Australia’s most remote microbrewery.

It is set to be an exciting and memorable Cup Day in one of the most dramatic regions of South Australia.
