The 100th instalment of the Strathalbyn Cup was an incredible success for the club. It saw a significant increases across a number of key metrics compared with the running of the cup the previous year. The final figures indicate the incredible support the club had from the community with this event.
Total attendance for the 100th Strathalbyn Cup reached just over 2000 people, this was an increase of 57% on the total attendance for the Cup in 2022, with members & guests attendance increasing a mammoth 71%. The day was a cause for celebration with attendees enjoying the hospitality that was on offer, Strathalbyn saw an increase of 61% in the bar takings for 2023 compared with 2022. Punters were feeling confident too as the bookmakers saw an increase in their hold.
It was evident that businesses and members of the community were keen to support the event with an increase of 53% in partners and sponsorships for the day compared with 2022. Support from the community is vital to the success of country racing in Strathalbyn and throughout South Australia and we hope to see the support increase again next year after the success that the Strathalbyn Cup was this year.
One thing that is clear from these figures is that support for country racing in South Australia is incredibly strong and that these events are not to be missed. From the food, wine, fashion, family friendly atmosphere, and the exciting action on track, a day at the country races has something for everyone!
