Gawler Track Report and Speed Maps

Racing SA's Track Report

Winning post-1500m chute: The track walks well with good consistent grass cover and has a nice lush feel to the profile. Walks even right across the track.

1200m-800m: The track is rated a Soft 5, but just walking that section of the track It almost gives a feel of a Good 4 where the grass seems to thin out marginally. In different sections of the track walks slightly uneven with some wear and tear noticeable in the inside couple of lanes.

800m-400m: Walks a consistent good 4, with some very minor scuff marks along the rail, we could see jockeys slightly come away from the inside lane looking to improve into the race to build momentum. The grass cover is slightly better in this section with some wear and tear where the rail placement was at the previous meeting

400m-Winning post: We see the track walk much more lush with a thicker amount of grass where the rail has been moved in from the previous meeting. It was consistent again with some minor marks where the previous rail was. It does walk currently as a soft 5 down the straight, but with warmer conditions set for Saturday it may walk slightly better with the chance of a Good 4 rating for tomorrow’s meeting.

Verdict: The track at Gawler gives the feel that it works slightly better than a soft 5 with the expected warm conditions and wouldn’t be surprised to see the track get to a good 4 for the program. We should have an even race day where the races may come down to tempo and class. Jockeys may slightly move away from the inside but overall we should see a good day of racing.
