It was a coming together of community and visitors and the Streaky Bay Racing Club Cup, and the near sell out crowd were treated to a fantasic day.
The sunshine bought with it some amazing colour and patterns by way of those that entered the Fashion At The Races event, with plenty pinks, blues and purples on show.
We had the opportunity to chat with the best dressed lady, Tracey Tape.
Tell us about your winning outfit. What were you wearing?
Aje dress, soft pink and a beautiful raw style edging - it was very comfortable, and the fitting was so supportive of my body shape, Ashlee Lauren Crown, complemented with Billini nude heels and a YSL nude bag with gold accents. This was one of my favourite outfits to date, so comfortable and I loved the soft colour pallet.
What process did you go through to plan and choose this ensemble?
I most often start with the dress; on this occasion I found this dress very quickly as I love the shape of Aje dresses and have worn them previously. Followed then with the millinery, I wanted something that was soft and complimentary of the dress, a crown is always a great way to style a outfit but doesn’t take away too much from the dress. Gold and nude accessories, bag and heels again pushed the colour and style of the dress to become the star of the outfit.
What was your first racing event and how has your style evolved since?
I have been to many race days in Port Lincoln where I grew up but started entering fashions at the races since moving to Streaky Bay 6 years ago. My style has always been quite similar as I love the fitted bodice with a flowing skirt, I find this to be the best style for races fashions and works on any body shape. I follow many race and fashion pages, I do love the page, It’s All About the Sash to gather inspiration and to see how creative outfits can be.
What are your favourite labels for racewear?
I have many favourite labels but my go to would be Aje, Zimmermann, Leo & Lin, Alice McCall, Billini, Ashlee Lauren and YSL.
Tell us about your makeup. What look did you choose and what key products did you use?
My friends and I have a great range of makeup products, each event we get together and share, laugh and assist each other with our makeup. Some of our favourite brands would be Mac, Dior and Estee Lauder.
How did you choose a hairstyle? What styling process did your locks go through?
I am very lucky having two good friends as hairdressers, they help me create an amazing style for every event. I do have a specific style though; I like it to be sleek and with a soft bun, which is always a classic style.
How would you describe your personal style?
Classic. I believe in comfort and a soft style. Colour is also important; I tend to move towards a block colour rather than multi colours, but I think its always about the cut of the dress. I will always sway towards the fitted bodice and flowing skirt.
How do you spend your time when you’re not at racing events?
Family, friends and work. I’m lucky to have a great balance of each, we have a big family and love being with each other, having BBQs, camping, going to the beach and just spending time together. My friends and I always make a conscious effort to catch up regularly and plan a dinner date, our next girl’s trip and have something to look forward to. I am also lucky enough to love my job, working for the District Council of Streaky Bay I enjoy going to work, so overall very grateful.
Why should everyone book in a day at the races this year?
A day the races is like no other, it is always full of fun, excitement, meeting new people, getting together with friends and family. If fashion is your thing or think it might be then I would encourage anyone to give it a go, research and find what’s comfortable for you. I find it’s always fun to get together with a group and put on a few bets, I am never very lucky but find going with the horses’ names that catch my eye is always fun!
